Welcome to Shell Seekers Cottage, Runswick Bay

For those of you who are familiar with Runswick Bay, you may recall or perhaps have even stayed at the holiday home known as Red House in the village. Bought in 1992, the owners of Red House had holidayed in Sandsend for many years but had friends in Runswick and so jumped at the chance to purchase their own piece of the village. Sadly though, Red House met with its demise in 2014 where structural engineers advised that the house needed to be rebuilt due to subsidence, having discovered a large crack at the back of the house.

Red House was to be no more. The owners embarked upon rebuilding a new house, which was to be heavily engineered to ensure future stability and so here came "Shell Seekers". A brand new luxury seaside home in the heart of Runswick Bay lower village. With the build completed in 2022 and still in the same ownership 30 years later, this home is available again for holiday lets. Shell Seekers offers accommodation for up to 8 people and welcomes 2 well behaved dogs.

Boasting a king bedroom with large ensuite, a double bedroom with shower ensuite, a bunk bedroom, a twin bedroom,a house bathroom, boot room / utility with downstairs "loo", large cosy lounge, open plan kitchen / dining space leading to a superb balcony with sea views - Shell Seekers Cottage easily caters for family gatherings or groups wishing to get away.

Shell Seekers has the added benefit of one private parking space (please note the access to this car park space requires skilled driving as the road is very narrow and extremely steep) If you are unable to park outside the house, there is further parking in the Pay & Display car park within the village. In more detail, Shell Seekers is located in the lower village of Runswick Bay and sleeps 8 people as follows:-

The front door leads to the entrance hall and house bathroom with shower and all the bedrooms which are:
* Twin bedroom (painted in Farrow & Ball "Smoke Green")
* Bunk bedroom and wardrobe (painted in Little Greene "Mortar")
* Double bedroom with ensuite shower room (in tones of Farrow & Ball "Smoke Green")
* King size bedroom with large ensuite bathroom with shower and bath (in tones of Craig & Rose "Fresh Plaster")

Stairs lead down to the large open plan kitchen / dining / balcony area

The kitchen has a dining table seating 8 people
*4 ring induction hob,
*Single oven, Nespresso coffee machine (please bring your own pods),
*Built in large fridge freezer,
*Full Size dishwasher,
*kitchen sink and all the necessary utensils, pots and pans, kettle, toaster, microwave, cafetiere

The kitchen leads through to the lounge with two large sofas and occasional chairs, Smart TV, feature Log burning stove, board games.

Further stairs lead down to the boot room / utility with downstairs toilet , sink and washing machine. We politely ask that dogs are encouraged to sleep here. There is a back door here for easy access to the Cleveland Way and footpath into the village.

Please note Runswick Bay does not have a gas supply therefore all cottages are electric.

Outside, there is a large balcony with outside seating, table and chairs. Breathtaking views of the bay from this lofty vantage point - a rarity in Runswick Bay.

There is parking at the house for one medium sized car. We do not allow EV charging at this cottage  - it invalidates our insurance - there is an official charging point located at the top of the bank. Additional cars must use the Pay & Display car park for which there is a daily charge. Please note that the road to the cottage is extremely narrow and not for drivers who are not confident on the roads. A good level of reversing and skill required! (We have no alternative parking if you are unable to park outside the cottage - you must use the Pay & Display car park, daily charges apply)
